World Vasectomy Day

Vasectomy is a highly effective form of contraception that empowers men to take an active role in family planning and reproductive responsibility. By choosing vasectomy, men adopt a reliable, long-term birth control method and relieve some of the contraceptive burden traditionally placed on women. WVD produces a number of events throughout the year, including quarterly webinars, and their signature 24 Hour celebration which raises global awareness of vasectomy, while mobilizing doctors all over the world to perform vasectomies. At the same time, vasectomy users, researchers, and advocates provide commentary from shifting time zones around the world.

Founded by creative filmmaker Jonathan Stack, WVD shines light on how the decision to have a vasectomy reflects men’s deep engagement their own sexual and reproductive lives, and can foster open communication, mutual respect, and equality in relationships. WVD’s work in recent years has uncovered a new narrative about vasectomy, namely that men are connecting the decision to have a vasectomy with climate change and their desire to take concrete action on behalf of their families, communities and the earth.

GreeneWorks is proud to have participated in WVD’s annual event on several occasions, and to promote their work.
